The purpose of this project is address two major problems with road maintenance and visibility. The first major problem is that millions of dollar are spent each year maintaining roads. This not only cost inefficient, but the effects nature has on road is also dangerous to the driver. The second major problem identified is that the traffic signals on roads including lane lines are poorly seen during night time driving. To address these problems, we are going to research the current methods of road production and maintenance and why they are currently implemented. We are also going to research different types of materials that are resilient to weather conditions. One possible solution is hydrophobic materials. Also, we will study different methods of traffic signals visibility and come up with our own conclusion to improving this problem. At the end of the ten weeks we hope to have a model sample of a road which can be successfully implemented in a cost efficient manner to lessen road maintenance and increase road safety.
